For immediate release from the New London-Waterford Speedbowl

WATERFORD – After coming off a heat race win, Justin Gaydosh was poised to lead the first lap in the SK Modifieds®. Anthony Flannery made quick work of him down low but had a mirror full of Eric Berndt. Behind them, Andrew Molleur coming off three wins in a row and Keith Rocco kept the pressure on waiting for a mistake. Berndt got underneath Flannery on lap 8 but was met with a three-wide power move by Molleur. Berndt cleared Flannery and Molleur had to back out, but he slipped into second under attack by Rocco. A caution short of halfway didn’t change the race pace as Berndt got out front leaving Molleur and Rocco to fight it out for second. Molleur would win that fight and lay the chrome horn on Berndt but the Bulldog would not be shaken. With fifteen to go, Flannery worked his way back into the picture taking over the second spot but a caution set him up for another fight. Berndt maintained the hold he had on the field to pick up the win with Flannery and Molleur rounding out the poidium.

Emma Monahan looked strong when the green flag flew in the Late Models but it didn’t take long for contact at the front of the field to throw a monkey wrench in everyone’s plans. Devin Deshaies, now at the point, had to deal with a fast Cory DiMatteo who was making his first start in 2025. The outside groove didn’t work for DiMatteo but after a crossover and some hard racing, he was able to wedge by Deshaies down low. Jake Johnson stopped by for a visit starting behind the Speedbowl regulars and worked his way up to second during the run. DiMatteo had too strong of a car and was able to maintain a good gap over Johnson in a race that finished without further incident. The win marked the fifth different division he won in, adding to the Bandoleros, Legend Cars, SK Lights, and SK Modifieds®.

After stringing together a few podium finishes, Robert Bloxsom III started off strong in the SK Lights leading the field. All was well for Bloxsom even after a lap 2 incident that saw Kevin Davis parked on Sami Anderson’s hood. A caution on lap 10 allowed Tyler Chapman to get the upper hand where he would lead Bloxsom and Evan Bourgeois away from the rest of the field. Bourgeois spent a lot of time looking high and low to move into second and even got a nose ahead, but not enough to clear. Bloxsom dug his heels in and made one last attempt on Chapman for the lead but slid back into second. With the white flag in the air, contact sent Bloxsom around setting up a green white checkered finish. Davis, now outside Chapman, crossed over to take the white flag but at the line it was Chapman by a half of a car.

The Street Stock division kicked the night off with a bang, keeping fans at the edge of their seats. Veteran competitor Joe Arena led from the drop of the green until contact between he and Ike Chima sent them both to the rear. Aaron Plemons inherited the lead from this and over the next set of laps there were six crossover moves for the top spot with Jordan Hadley. Contact between the two gave Hadley sole possession of the lead as Plemons got overtaken by Al Stone III. With 7 laps left on the board, Plemons lost a right front tire and collected with a hard charging Chima. Plemons returned to the field at the tail and after an impressive charge to the front, he got a nose under Hadley winning by just a fender at the line.

Riley Paul and Wade Oemcke got off to a solid start in the Legend Cars but it didn’t take long for PJ Evans to enter the picture. The three of them and last weeks winner Dylan Freeman broke away from the field racing under a blanket. A few cautions after the halfway point wouldn’t hurt Evans as he aced the restart each time to win, leaving Paul and Freeman in an intense battle for the runner up spot.

Jack Emerson led the first lap of the Crown Vics but was quickly taken down by Jake Caprio. Gregg Prevost III followed by Emerson and got up to Caprio’s bumper at one point but lost all momentum after grazing the wall. Robert Jones in his debut was able to sneak past Emerson late in the race landing himself on the podium.

A scramble on lap 1 of the 40 lap X-Car special sent the field in disarray taking Christian Herman from the race and sending Tim Burgess pit-side temporarily. When the green flag dropped for the second time, Brandon Plemons took control with Wednesday winner Ray Herman slipping into second. A caution on lap 10 gave Corey Caddick a chance at the top spot in a bold three-wide move that wouldn’t pan out, but he did take down Ray for second. During this run he chipped away at Plemons’ lead. Even with lapped traffic he couldn’t get close enough. After a hail mary attempt on the last lap failed, Plemons would go on to win. It was his fourth different division at the track adding to the Mini Stocks, Street Stocks, and Trucks.

On Wednesday July 2nd, Sean Skinner picked up the Super X-Car win early this season after going winless in 2024. Ray Herman Sr scored his first career X-Car win. Jacob Burns dug his heels in on the outside to win the Legend Car main. Connor Doyon picked up his second Bandolero win in a row, and Ben LeVangie won the American Vintage Modified race.

There’s no racing this Wednesday night, so our next event will be the 12th when the Super X-Cars join our Saturday Night card in a 40 lap special.
