MOLLEUR MAKES IT FOUR ON THE SEASON; JAYSIN BEAL GOES BACK TO BACK IN TRUCKS

For immediate release from the New London-Waterford Speedbowl

WATERFORD – Justin Gaydosh shot off the line over Josh Zentek at the start of the SK Modified race. Zentek had his hands full immediately but was able to hang tough until a lap 3 caution quickly slowed the race. Todd Owen was successful with clearing Zentek on the restart for second, sending him into a 3 wide situation that he had lost. At the next restart, Owen was able to gap Gaydosh for the lead, where he got picked off by Anthony Flannery and Andrew Molleur. Molleur made quick work of Flannery and he and Owen took off from the field with Flannery having to hold off Eric Berndt. A caution near the halfway point allowed Molleur to slide into the lead with Berndt following through. That’s where the field remained over the last 17 laps giving Molleur his fourth win in six races this season.

Charles Beal got off the line and eventually cleared Cameron Varricchio in the Trucks. He built himself a good cushion with Milania Shilosky and Jake Coutu fighting it out for third with a hard charging Brad Strickland on the move. Jaysin Beal moved to the outside of Strickland early and started moving forward in the lineup. With just four laps to go, the straightaway lead Charles had created for himself was eliminated. Jaysin would work to the outside and take over the lead quickly earning himself back to back wins in the caution free race.

Ike Chima tried to control the Street Stock race from the get-go but he had to contend with the all time win leader Al Stone III. It was a battle he quickly lost. Stone took the lead from the drop of the green while Chima was in the middle of a three wide battle for second. Jordan Hadley and Aaron Plemons moved their battle for third into a battle for second as they traded paint over the next few laps when contact between the two sent Hadley around with a flat tire. On the restart, Stone resumed his dominance over Chima and the two were able to gap the rest of the field by a large margin, with Mike Caprio earning his first podium finish in awhile at the Speedbowl.

The field got rocked in the Mini Stocks when trouble on the start sidelined Bill Sylvia. Andrew Krzeminski was the first to take advantage of the opening and slip into the lead with Ray Christian III in his rearview mirror. The two drivers took off from the field and it wasn’t until the last handful of laps that Christian started eating away at the lead. Trouble on the final lap when rookie driver Carson Peters went up in smoke forced a green-white-checker finish to what was already a great race. Krzeminski and Christian dueled side by side over the first lap, but then coming out of turn two the drivers made contact. Christian saved the car from spinning and blended back into traffic but Krzeminski was left with a flat tire sending him backwards. When the seas parted, Chris Garside rebounded from the initial start to steal the win away.

Wade Oemcke beat TJ Sansoucy into turn 1 in the Legend Cars but his lead wasn’t for long as Brandon Martinez got to the low side and moved into the lead. Contact early with Zachary Martinez and Oemcke gave the latter a tire rub that he would not be able to recover from. Brandon held down the race lead while Zachary had gotten engaged in a battle with PJ Evans and Dylan Freeman for what would eventually be second. With 11 laps on the board, the Martinez brothers took the green on the front row with Zachary hanging tough on the outside. He would slide back and cross Brandon over to move into the lead late giving Freeman a shot at second. Fluid on the track with 5 to go sent the field in a scramble, but Zachary was able to hold off Freeman on the restart to win with Brandon clearing both Evans and Freeman crossing the line in second.

Last weeks Crown Vic winner Jake Caprio took to the lead early getting the advantage over Jack Emerson. Brent Robidoux took the reigns of the 01 previously driven by two time winner Scott Cestodio and made quick work of the field. By lap 6 he was up to and by Caprio where he would go on to score his first Speedbowl win.

On Sunday, Sean Skinner took down his second Super X-Car win of the season. Christian Herman restarted the cycle by winning in the X-Cars. Jacob Burns dominated the Legend Car main while Ryder Augiar picked up his first Bandolero win at the Speedbowl. Richie Johnson and Wesley Johnson won the Enduro races.

Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday returns to its regularly scheduled night on July 23rd headlined by a 40 lap X-Car race.
