Summer showdown Legends Race Coming to the Speedbowl

New London Waterford Speedbowl announces the Summer Showdown Legends Race to be held June 30th, 2018.
General Manager George Whitney announced today that on June 30th the Legends division will compete in a 35 lap special event showcasing the Legends Division. Whitney stated that the Legends, which have been a constant at the shoreline oval on both the Mid-Week Wild n Wacky Wednesday Program as well as the weekly Saturday program deserve to be highlighted and this is a perfect event to do just that. The event will consist of Group Time Sessions to set up the Heat Races, 10 lap Heat Races, Consolation Races, a B-Main with the winner having the option to take 100.00 for winning or to pass on that and move to the A-Main, leaving the 2nd place driver to get what the winner did not choose. The event will conclude with a guaranteed 2000.00 to win, 28 car 35 Lap A-Main. The base purse for the A-Main is 5000.00, but with the sale of lap money at 20.00 per lap and some other incentives that are being pursued that total hopefully will grow even more.
The weekend will begin with a Test and Tune night running on Friday evening. Pit gates will open at 3pm, with on-track activity from 4pm-8pm followed by party under the tent with food available and beverages available. Pit admission is 20.00/person which includes the party under the tent. On Saturday Pits open for Legends Parking and inspection beginning at 11am and practice will begin promptly at 1:30pm.Pit Admission 30.00 for Saturday which includes practice and racing.
Pre-registration for this event is 50.00 up until June 10th 2018, and after that date the price for registration increases to 75.00. Pre-Registration is not required, however it is encouraged to save the teams money and to assist in planning the event.
The exact format is being finalized and will ultimately depend on the number of teams participating, however teams can expect upwards of 70 laps of racing if you have run all the races to make the feature event.
