FLANNERY EXTENDS POINT LEAD WITH THIRD SK MODIFIED WIN; ERICA CANFIELD BECOMES FIRST FEMALE MINI STOCK WINNER

WATERFORD – Timmy Jordan’s SK Modified® season hasn’t been stellar these past few events, so it was good to see him power by Adam Gada when the green flag
dropped on First Responders night. Jordan kept up the pace for a handful of laps as Todd Owen and Anthony Flannery also trailed outside of Gada. Owen’s charge to the front was slowed when Flannery dove low to engage in a battle for second, keeping Jon Puleo at bay. Jordan would soon have his hands full with Flannery with the result being a lead change on lap 14. That’s where Jordan’s run would end with bad luck continuing as he got shuffled back and eventually pulled off. At that moment Puleo also worked by Owen to move into third, and then second. The laps clicked down without incident with Flannery safely out front ahead of Puleo, and Gada able to rebound to take third away from Owen in the final lap.
Ian Nunes took the early lead in the SK Lights with Kevin Davis jumping from sixth to second in no time, taking up his whole rearview mirror. Davis took the lead from Nunes on lap six and the two of them with Evan Bourgeois would run away from the rest of the pack. Making the most moves from deeper in the field, Robert Bloxsom III would take third away from Nunes just after halfway as he ate away at the gap the top cars built. The race clicked away green to checker with Davis scoring his first win since Blast Off, and while Bloxsom caught Bourgeois, the two stayed in line at the finish.
Ryan Lineham’s stranglehold on the Truck division had a steep mountain to climb this time out. Cameron
Varricchio and Mason Silva ran away with the lead from the front row to start, building a sizable lead on the field. Meanwhile Lineham could be found picking off the competitors jumping from fifth to third in just two laps. Fast forward to halfway, Lineham catches and flies by Silva for second. Eight to go and Lineham is on Varricchio’s bumper. A seemingly easy pass for the lead took place with Varricchio taking a swing back before it was too late. Lineham had the lead and his seventh win of the season locked up with 6 laps to go.
Eric Julian got the jump in the Mini Stocks but Tim Dorr powered back on the outside to take it away quickly. Just a couple laps in though, and Erica Canfield was all over their bumpers chomping at the bit. By lap five she took the lead with Bill Sylvia following her every step of the way leaving Dorr in their dust. By lap 10 Sylvia started trying to stage his attacks, getting up to her back bumper. He would keep looking low but didn’t have the momentum to make a move until the flagman showed two laps to go. That’s when the lead would change, the first time. Canfield kept the pressure turned up and kept herself in the hunt as trouble for Sylvia occurred coming to the checkers, and she would pick up the win around the outside. She becomes the first female driver to earn a Mini Stock win.
Trouble early for the Legend Cars took a few competitors out of the race and called for a lengthy cleanup. Parker
Davis and Wade Oemcke were putting on a show out front until contact sent Oemcke around which started the stackup. Davis resumed the race having to hold off PJ Evans, which is never an easy task. He wasn’t shaken and took the lead leading Evans and Dylan Freeman to sort it out for second. Freeman kept on Davis’ bumper until contact between he and Evans called for a change in position. Evans made a move down low and began a side-by-side battle for the lead around halfway. Not being able to clear, Freeman took an opportunity and made it three-wide for the top spot, with Davis being on the losing end and moving back a few positions. Freeman and Evans would trade the top spot for the rest of the race in a thrilling side-by-side turned nose-to-tail battle with no clear winner. Evans stayed strong and took the trophy home for the fourth time in five races over Freeman, with newly crowned Thursday champion Aubry Wasko rounding out the podium.
Our last Thursday Night Thunder took place with Landon Heim picking up both the Bandolero win and championship and Aubry Wasko scoring the Legend Car crown after Zachary Martinez won the race. Ryan Magliano remained hot in the Super X-Cars and Corey Caddick won the 40-lap X-Car shootout. They close their point battles out at The Finale.
Time is ticking to catch some racing action in 2026. There are only three events left on the calendar beginning with the Right of Way Solutions 200 featuring a Compact Enduro on the nineteenth before we take a week off and prep for The Finale on October 3rd and 4th.
