HOVEY CAPITALIZES FOR FOURTH SK MODIFIED® WIN; LEE BEST OF MINI STOCKS AFTER FIFTY

WATERFORD – Keith Rocco pulled Adam Gada at the Start of the SK Modifieds®, but rather than run away with it, Gada closed the gap and stayed there. Not long after and under attack by Anthony Flannery, Rocco’s lead would increase. Flannery poked outside a couple times but eventual contact between the two sent Gada around just short of halfway. Rocco and Flannery took off from the restart while Nickolas Hovey was left under fire by Jon Puleo. A caution with 11 to go put Puleo in position to go to battle with Flannery for second, which culminated in a bold 3-wide move from Puleo where he would take the lead and Flannery would take second from Rocco. Flannery kept the heat turned up over the final couple laps but with the checkered flag in sight contact at the point would send Puleo around. With cars scattering and the dust settling, Hovey was able to take advantage of the situation and pick up his fourth win of the season.

               The Mini Stocks had their big 50 lap race of the season that fired off 21 cars strong. Eric Julian took the initial lead over John Krzeminski but it didn’t take long for David Lee to enter the picture and pick off the second spot. Just five laps in, Lee would dive underneath Julian for the lead with Bill Sylvia on his tail. Nate Taylor came from a deep starting spot and was on the move forward until contact between the two brought out the caution. On the restart Lee would take off and Taylor would make it three wide to pull off second. Shortly after, an incident with Sylvia and Krzeminski sent cars scattering and brought out the caution. Lee once again got the best of the restart and Charles Canfield who was able to narrowly avoid disaster slipped into second by Taylor. They would pull away from the field and eventually maneuver through lapped traffic. Taylor kept closing the gap but never got close enough to make a move as the laps clicked down. A couple late race cautions tested Lee but he would ace each one picking up the extra distance win, and his second of the season with Taylor bettering Canfield for the podium.

Diego Monahan left the Late Model field in his dust on more than one occasion. He led safely ahead of Ray Christian III who was battling back and forth with Jacob Burns of second. An early restart didn’t break Monahan’s focus but it did make the battle for the runner up spot more intense. The field strung out but there was no questioning this was the best run Monahan had all season as he was miles ahead when he took the checkered flag. It would be his first Speedbowl win since 2016 and his first Late Model win since 2003.

Cameron Varricchio and Mason Silva put on a side-by-side battle for the lead in the Trucks that Varricchio was able to come out on top of. Andy Pellegrini was running a solid third but could be seen falling off the pace as the race went on. Enter: Ryan Lineham. He came from a deep starting spot, easily passing Silva, and was all over Varricchio by halfway. As Lineham cleared for the lead, Pellegrini’s race would soon after come to an end in a plume of smoke. Lineham’s stranglehold on the division continued as he held on for two more restarts and easily picked up his sixth win of the season.

While Jake Caprio and Ray Reed rocketed away from the Crown Vics, Joseph Sinclair would shuffle backwards in what felt like a chaotic three laps that ended when cars further back in the field spun. Caprio once again took off and while Jack Emerson moved into second, Reed had fallen off. Another restart early, and Caprio still held the advantage. At halfway Emerson was able to get a nose down low and clear for the lead. A cross-over attempt by Caprio failed and Emerson would run away with his fifth win in a row, and seventh of the season.

               A three division program rolled off on Sunday that started with the Legend Cars 21 cars strong. Fresh off a heat race win, Wade Oemcke  was the better of a high speed pace lap with Parker Davis. A little further back in the field on lap 5 saw a check-up that sent Zachary Martinez backwards in the field. Oemcke, Dylan Freeman, and PJ Evans would run nose to tail for a few laps until the both of them dove underneath Oemcke to get by. He would then go around with eight to go battling with Brandon Martinez for third. Freeman and Evans went side by side for a couple laps when Brandon Martinez dove low to take the lead away, but only for a moment as the caution would fly. Freeman kept the door closed on the next restart leaving Evans and Brandon Martinez to battle for second among themselves. Brandon would take the spot and Zachary who got shuffled back to fifteenth would also pick Evans off for third. Freeman cruised to the win after that final restart, winning his first of the season.

Ike Chima came back to Street Stock competition not too long ago, and while he fired off strong, Jon Porter answered back stronger. Al Stone III also moved by Chima and ate away at the lead Porter built all within the first five laps. After a two lap side by side battle for the lead, Stone moved into the lead. They would hold a half-straight lead over Greg Moran Jr. until a caution flew. That didn’t change the complexion of the race for the lead as Stone continued to dominate. Porter was able to capture second after a battle with Moran. Stone’s win helped in the point standings as he now has 5 on the season.

               Matt Hirschman dominated the 100 lap Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series race, sweeping both held at the Speedbowl in 2026.

On Thursday Night Thunder, Ryan Magliano picked up back to back Super X-Car wins. Christian Herman moved into the all time win lead for X-Cars. Luka Dib won the Bandoleros and Brandon Martinez was back in winning form with the Legend Cars. Carl Kivisto won the last American Vintage Modified race of the season.
