DAVIS CAPTURES FIRST SK LIGHT WIN IN THRILLING FINAL LAP; BRAD and COREY CADDICK EARN FIRSTS

For immediate release from the New London-Waterford Speedbowl

WATERFORD – The top spot in the SK Lights was hotly contested in the 25 lap main. Sami Anderson was the first to hold it down over Kali Trapp. Robert Bloxsom III and Kevin Davis Jr both worked their way by Trapp settling into line. Bloxsom was first to attack Anderson with Davis lying in wait but was unsuccessful at first. By halfway, Bloxsom got by Anderson and Tyler Chapman entered the picture. With 9 to go on a restart, Anderson dove back into the lead but Chapman was quick to work past her. The two broke away from the pack until contact on the final lap took them both out of contention, clearing the way for Davis to score his first win in his rookie season.

Street Stocks took center stage with a 50 lap main event that was run without incident. Joe Arena held the early lead but had his hands full with Jordan Hadley and Al Stone III all over his chrome back bumper. Hadley was first to make the move and while Stone tried a 3-wide move, it didn’t stick. Aaron Plemons dug his heels in passing Stone and attempting to chip away at the lead Hadley built. Lapped traffic wasn’t enough to stop Hadley’s dominance in the race, earning him a second win in 3 races this season.

The Trucks had sophomore driver Milania Shilosky out in front by a convincing margin over Ryan Bannister. With a mirror full of Duane Noll, Bannister was able to hang on until Brad Caddick entered the picture and dove to their outside. 10 laps in a three wide situation removed Bannister from the equation leaving Shilosky with Caddick to deal with. She was able to hold him off until 9 to go when the yellow flag flew. This time around, Caddick worked his way by and Shilosky engaged in a brief battle with Charles Beal that resulted in her losing control of her Truck. Caddick would go on to win his first Speedbowl Truck race, adding to his previous Mini Stock and SK Light wins.

Chris Garside quickly took the Mini Stock lead from Randy Churchill with Corey Caddick in his tire tracks. The two put on a thrilling side by side battle for much of the race where a blanket could have been thrown over the top 7. With 6 laps to go, Caddick finally cleared Garside and Bill Sylvia moved his way into second. A caution with 3 to go gave the drivers another crack at Caddick but he would not be denied this time around, picking up his first Mini Stock win.

Dylan Freeman and Wade Oemcke were the first to break away from the Legend Car hornets’ nest that encompassed the top 10. Brandon Martinez, who one week prior made heavy contact with the turn 1 wall, last week’s winner Zachary Martinez, and Riley Paul were working their way forward in traffic. A restart on lap 5 allowed the three drivers to pull into the lead where they would run for a majority of the race. A caution with just 2 to go for a fluid leak reset the stage for Brandon. He held on to a slick track as Zachary and Paul duked it out to round out the podium.

Richie Johnson of Middleboro Ma picked up the first Compact Enduro win of the season after starting 32nd in the 35 car field.
